70 years ago, deep in the woods of Lambert Mississippi , a sharecroppers wife gave birth to one of her 11 children. Junior L Drinkwater took his breath and yelled out loud and strong. When Junior wasn't picking and chopping cotton with his family, he was hunting rabbits with his dog "Pook". Junior grew up hard and fast in the cotton fields of Mississippi. He learned how to fight at an early age. He made his way out by fighting for money. In 1964 while boxing for $75.00, Junior lost his eye in the ring.
I met my friend Junior Drinkwater in 1990, he was living behind the "Westside Liquor Store" in Delray Beach. I was practicing the guitar in the back room of the liquor store. When Junior heard the music he came in and sang with me. That was the start of "the Westside Blues Band" and "The Backroom Blues Bar".
